this is an amazing photograph that makes me "antsy" to take a trip and see things unusual and unexpected. it was found on my sister's friend paul's website. he seems to really get around. i had to make a lunch appointment with him for monday so i can find out more about this amazing photograph and the trip surrounding it.

I came upon this while looking at the DIY section of now public - i suppose it's an old argument about gender and color - but since we did have pink touch our lives in the early years in a pretty powerful way - it seems relevant now and worth discussing as the years go by.

My son (now 12) was insistent that i buy him everything pink (power puff girls princesses etc etc) when he was small. the division between gender in the stores was amazing to me. Other parents (some not all) were appalled that I would "let him" wear for instance a t shirt with sparkly flowers - and be a princess for halloween - he was in HEAVEN let me tell you. All his friends were girls and he loved playing family. so much more to tell you - but I have to pop out now quickly.

I have been wanting to document this experience and share the story - OH and also want to quickly mention I worked at TOY COMPANIES while my son was growing up so I have an insider's perspective to how the business goes - so much to tell - but later - I promise.
